About this course

Used wisely, social media and blogging can be fun, boost your standing and career, win friends and influence people. Really. But not if you try too hard and not if your sole purpose is self-promotion. Balancing professionalism and approachability is hard. But it is possible, with a bit of thought, guidance and practice.

Based on his long experience of messing some things up and getting some things right – and watching others do likewise – Colin Yeo will talk you through avoiding pitfalls, developing an online persona you are happy with, finding a niche, sticking within professional rules and enhancing your reputation.

We will look at:

  • How to think like an actual human being
  • Interacting with your peers and building a base
  • Creating posts that real humans might actually want to share
  • Establishing expectations and boundaries for yourself
  • Choosing the best social media and blogging platforms for you
  • Developing a social media strategy (a short one…)
  • Establishing an online reputation
  • Measuring and tracking success and failure
  • Software tools to help you manage your social media strategy
  • Some examples of people who do it well
