About this course

Many UK citizens and residents are turning to surrogates abroad to help them fulfil their dreams of parenthood. The international surrogacy process can bring enormous joy to childless families, but the immigration and citizenship status of a child born through surrogacy abroad is extremely complex. Ensuring a safe, reliable route to the UK for such children requires planning and a clear grasp of the relevant legal frameworks.

This workshop will equip you with an understanding of the Home Office’s approach to international surrogacy. Through case studies and expert guidance from your tutor, you’ll gain insight into:

  • legal parenthood under UK law
  • pathways to acquiring British citizenship for a surrogate-born child
  • surrogacy applications under the Immigration Rules
  • practical tips for helping smooth the application process
  • and more!

Designed as a small online workshop, we are limiting attendance to a maximum of 14 attendees. Whether you are new to this area or looking to deepen your expertise, this workshop will provide you with essential knowledge and tools to help navigate this complex area of immigration law, enabling you to effectively support clients in international surrogacy cases.
