This webinar will provide a clear breakdown of options A to K in the points-based immigration system.
The tradeable points system under the Skilled Worker route is one of the most complex and confusing parts of the Immigration Rules. A wide range of factors come into play just in this one stage of the visa process.
To secure the 20 points available in this category, applicants (and their advisers) must navigate 11 different tradeable points options (A to K), each one involving a complex mix of factors, including salary, weekly hours, qualifications, age, previous immigration status, visa type, professional registration, job role, immigration salary list considerations, the timing of the application, and more. And this is all after selecting the correct SOC code from Tables 1 to 6 of Appendix Skilled Occupations.
It’s a system that feels unnecessarily complicated, and the way it’s presented in the Immigration Rules certainly doesn’t help.
In this webinar, we’ll take a practical look at how each tradeable points option works, with a focus on applying the rules across different salary bands. We’ll explore how the various options interact with minimum salary thresholds, going rates, and the specific and differentiated treatment of new entrants and jobs in the immigration salary list.
We’ll also cover how these tradeable points apply in the context of Health and Care Worker applications, and how to approach applications made before and after the major changes in April 2024.
The session will feature practical examples, address common points of confusion, and offer clear guidance on how to apply the rules effectively when advising clients or preparing applications. The goal is to simplify an aspect of the Skilled Worker route that many, including experienced practitioners, find unnecessarily complex.

Detailed but not overwhelming. The examples where good and illustrated complex parts well. The quiz at the end was very good.
Well written and exam focused.
I thought the test questions were helpful. The language used was clear. The visuals for more complicated parts of the rules were great.
Very clear language, useful examples, links to relevant further information, legislation, etc.
