the3million are recruiting a Head of Policy and Advocacy

the3million is looking for a Head of Policy and Advocacy to join their ambitious and fast-growing team. Since Brexit, the3million has been the most effective organisation in championing EU citizens’ rights, developing a strong grassroots network, enabling the voice of EU citizens in the UK to be heard and building working relations with all major stakeholders.
 
The role
You will lead the Policy and Advocacy team at the3million, including building rigorous evidence-based research, writing clear policy development papers, managing key stakeholders, designing and implementing a compelling advocacy strategy to achieve change with grassroots support, developing their community lawyering programme and overseeing our litigation process.

You will strive to secure positive changes from the people and institutions who influence decisions on EU citizens’ rights, including governments, parliaments, regulators, key stakeholders and others.

You will manage staff in charge of policy and research, and community lawyering, currently a team of two.  
 
About you
the3million are looking for a confident colleague who shares their commitment to providing effective advocacy, and policy recommendations inspired by the lived experience of EU citizens. Key criteria include:
  • At least two years’ of senior work experience in a legal, policy or advocacy role;
  • An excellent understanding of the UK political environment, including parliamentary procedures;
  • A detailed understanding of the the EU Settlement Scheme and the wider UK immigration legal and policy landscape and its impacts on migrant communities;
  • Excellent communication skills in English, including confident public speaking and presentation skills, and strong writing skills;
  • Excellent persuasion skills, and ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely;
