Welcome to our step by step guide to claiming asylum in the UK. This course covers lodging a claim, inadmissibility, evidence, challenging refusals and the availability of legal aid.

Modules within this course..

  1. Lodging the claim and screening interview

    In this module we discover how an asylum claim is lodged and what happens at during and after the screening interview.
  2. Inadmissibility

    This module introduces inadmissibility. It covers safe third countries, responding to notices of intent and the timeframes for removal.
  3. Evidence and substantive interview

    Everything has been leading to the main 'substantive' interview. In this module we cover the process and some tips for preparing for the interview.
  4. Decision on the claim

    Next, we look at what happens after the claimant receives a decision on their case. In this module we explore what a successful claim means and what happens if the claim is refused.
  5. Legal aid and asylum support

    In the final module we address how a claimant might be supported throughout the process. We learn who is entitled to legal aid and asylum support, and how to apply for them.
