In this webinar we will explore the support in place for migrant victims of domestic abuse in the immigration context.
Domestic abuse comes in many forms, from physical and psychological abuse, to financial and sexual.
In the immigration context, perpetrators often use a person’s insecure immigration status as a means of control. This may be by withholding their documents or information about their status, deliberately not regularising their status, or threatening to have them removed from the UK.
In this webinar we will explore the support in place for victims of domestic abuse in the immigration context. We’ll be covering:
Nath Gbikpi.
Nath is a solicitor at Leigh Day with over a decade’s experience in immigration, asylum and British nationality law. She has particular expertise with applications based on domestic abuse and was the instructing solicitor in AM v SSHD [2022] EWHC 2591, a case involving victims of transnational marriage abandonment which led to a change in the law; victims in these circumstances can now apply for indefinite leave to enter to return to the UK.
Level: intermediate
This webinar is aimed at immigration practitioners who wish to improve their knowledge and handling of cases involving victims of domestic abuse. You will learn top tips and best practices from a true expert in the field.

I wish to thank Jasmine from the bottom of my heart for her excellent tuition, course delivery, exam feedback and the support she has provided to me for the two Level 2 training courses that I attended in April and October 2024. I achieved a high pass mark which enabled me and my firm to provide advice and services for complex casework in both the immigration and asylum categories. I truly do not think I would have been successful without her professional and invaluable assistance.
We have two members of the team who completed the level 1 course delivered in January – they have just passed their competency assessments with flying colours 😊 Thank you for the excellent course structure and support which will have contributed towards their success.
It’s a great way to gain foundational understanding of immigration law that is digestible yet still comprehensive. I liked how interactive the class was where we were encouraged to utilise our knowledge and test our understanding.
Detailed but not overwhelming. The examples where good and illustrated complex parts well. The quiz at the end was very good.

I thought the test questions were helpful. The language used was clear. The visuals for more complicated parts of the rules were great.
Very clear language, useful examples, links to relevant further information, legislation, etc.
