Webinar replay: Immigration options for Ukrainian nationals and their family members

This webinar looks at the immigration options available to Ukrainian nationals and their family members who want to enter or remain in the UK.

Date of Recording: 25 February 2025
Length: 1 hour

About this webinar

The UK government introduced Appendix Ukraine Scheme to the Immigration Rules in response to the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Three years on and two of the routes available for those affected by the conflict are closed: the Ukraine Family Scheme closed without warning on 19 February 2024, and the Ukraine Extension Scheme closed on 16 May 2024 to all applicants other than children born in the UK.

In this webinar we explore the remaining schemes in place to support Ukrainian nationals and their family members who want to enter or remain in the UK:

  • the Homes for Ukraine Sponsorship scheme,
  • the new Ukraine Permission Extension scheme, set to open on 4 February 2024.

We look at who can enter and remain in the UK under the schemes, the common problems faced by applicants and how they can be addressed.

We also discuss potential solutions to the long-term problems faced by those with status under the schemes, as the government has made clear that the Ukraine schemes do not offer a route to settlement in the UK.
