A group of charities and NGOs have launched a new guide on immigrants’ rights. It places with particular emphasis on coping with hostile environment measures designing to make life intolerable for undocumented migrants.

Know Your Rights: A Guide for Migrants promises to help migrants “understand your rights in a situation where immigration rules are changing regularly”. It has been published by the Migrants’ Rights Network, which says that it will be “particularly useful for people without documents and those trying to regularise their immigration status”. The guide covers the following areas:

  • banking
  • driving
  • education
  • employment
  • health
  • housing
  • social services
  • detention and deportation of homeless EU nationals

In addition to the MRN, the contributing organisations are Against Borders for Children, Doctors of the World UK, Liberty, North East London Migrant Action and Project 17. Between them, the various groups provide advice and services in all the areas covered by the guide.
