In this members-only webinar, Colin Yeo and Sonia Lenegan will run through the will run through the government’s proposals as they affect family members, workers, refugees and others, set out some key concerns and explain the consultation currently being undertaken by the government.
The Labour government proposes a radical new system of earned settlement which will set the default qualifying period as ten years rather than the current five. The period could be as short as three years for high earners. It could be 20 years or longer for those who claim benefits or break immigration rules. Other radical aspects include different rules for the families of citizens and settled persons and different qualifying periods for family members compared to the principal migrant.
In this live briefing call, Sonia Lenegan and Colin Yeo will run through the government’s proposals as they affect family members, workers, refugees and others, set out some key concerns and explain the consultation currently being undertaken by the government.
It will last one hour, with 50 minutes of talking followed by 10 minutes of questions.

I wish to thank Jasmine from the bottom of my heart for her excellent tuition, course delivery, exam feedback and the support she has provided to me for the two Level 2 training courses that I attended in April and October 2024. I achieved a high pass mark which enabled me and my firm to provide advice and services for complex casework in both the immigration and asylum categories. I truly do not think I would have been successful without her professional and invaluable assistance.
We have two members of the team who completed the level 1 course delivered in January – they have just passed their competency assessments with flying colours 😊 Thank you for the excellent course structure and support which will have contributed towards their success.
It’s a great way to gain foundational understanding of immigration law that is digestible yet still comprehensive. I liked how interactive the class was where we were encouraged to utilise our knowledge and test our understanding.
Detailed but not overwhelming. The examples where good and illustrated complex parts well. The quiz at the end was very good.

I thought the test questions were helpful. The language used was clear. The visuals for more complicated parts of the rules were great.
Very clear language, useful examples, links to relevant further information, legislation, etc.
