Job Ad: Seren Legal Practice are recruiting an Immigration, Asylum caseworker (OISC Accredited)

Full Time Position 

Location: Cardiff 

Salary: £29,000 – £32,000 (depending on qualifications and experience)

Start Date: ASAP

Job Overview:

We are seeking two dedicated and compassionate Immigration, Asylum Case Workers to join our team. You will be responsible for advising and assisting clients with their immigration and asylum applications and appeals. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as a strong desire to make a positive impact in the lives of others.

Experience / Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working as an immigration Case Worker or in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of immigration law
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Empathy and compassion for individuals facing challenging circumstances
  • Strong drafting skills
  • OISC qualifications are preferred however Law society immigration accreditation would also be considered.
  • Advocacy experience would be desirable as we offer a wholistic service to our clients, providing in-house advocacy
  • Outstanding organisational skills with the ability to prioritise deadlines and self-manage workloads effectively
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to pick out important details with strong attention to detail

Key duties (depending on OISC level)

  • Preparing representations and undertaking research
  • completing complex immigration applications and bundling and uploading the supporting documents
  • Managing a complex case load with responsibility for matters from start to finish
  • Meeting your individual billing target
  • Dealing effectively with new enquiries
  • General administrative tasks in relation to individual file management
  • preparing detailed witness statements, skeleton arguments and compiling the bundle for court.
  • Advocacy at the First Tier and Upper Tribunal
  • drafting permission grounds
