What to expect

This is an exciting opportunity for an Immigration Caseworker to join a dynamic and growing immigration team within a very supportive law firm.

Our team is part of the firm’s wider employment team, and we regularly advise HR Managers and business owners on a range of business immigration issues including right to work and sponsor licence compliance. We also provide specialist input on corporate transactions. Our corporate clients span a variety of sectors, such as education, healthcare, hospitality,  tech and fashion design.

In addition to our corporate immigration practice, we have a thriving personal immigration practice, and advise on every possible type of visa and nationality application. Our team has developed a particular specialism in Global Talent visas (Digital Sector) Visas, working closely with our Innovations and Project Teams to deliver a wholly unique and innovative service to clients applying for an endorsement from Tech Nation.

We are dedicated to helping our clients achieve successful visa outcomes and a smooth and streamlined application experience. Our success rate in visa and nationality applications is exceptional. We don’t shy away from the tricky cases either, and regularly advise on complex visa and nationality issues.

The hallmarks of our team are:

  • Excellent knowledge sharing within the team, with mini hubs of expertise across all areas of UK Immigration and Nationality Law
  • Clear and simple communications with clients – we understand how bewildering immigration jargon can be and share information with our clients clearly and concisely, ensuring they understand each stage of the process
  • High-level engagement as stakeholders with both the Home Office and Scottish Government

With one Caseworker mainly based in our Edinburgh team, we are now looking for a Caseworker to be mainly based in our Glasgow team. Our new team member will support on day-to-day casework as well as the growth and development of the practice. You’ll join a friendly and supportive team committed to your career development. The scope of this role will include the following:

  • Handling initial telephone and online enquiries relating to UK immigration or citizenship issues
  • Assisting with new client on-boarding
  • Preparing documentation lists for visa applications
  • Preparing draft visa application forms
  • Preparing draft covering letters for visa applications
  • Liaising with clients to obtain their documents for visa applications Preparing application packages for review by the supervising solicitor Booking client appointments with the Home Office’s commercial third parties Uploading clients’ documents in advance of appointments

What we’re looking for

  • A team player with a can-do attitude
  • A good working knowledge of UK immigration law
  • Someone with a friendly and confident manner who can handle new client calls Experience of case working in the immigration context, ideally across a range of visa and nationality applications
  • Experience of dealing with Home Office processes and its third party partner processes (e.g. VFS Global, TLS)
  • A commitment to excellent client care – the right candidate for this role will genuinely enjoy working with people and be interested in the client experience
  • Good organisation skills – calm under pressure and able to handle a high volume of work
  • Someone who enjoys collaborating with a team of colleagues with a range of skills and experience
  • Excellent technological skills including confidence in using Microsoft Office and Excel and a willingness to learn case working and other systems
  • Excellent attention to detail
