The Immigration (Health Charge) (Amendment) Order 2024 passed into law on 16 January 2024 and is now available on legislation.gov.uk. The new rates will apply to applications made on or after 6 February 2024, which is 21 days after the order became law. The ‘normal’ surcharge will increase from £624 per year to £1,035 per year of the visa being applied for. The lower rate surcharge will rise from £470 per year to £776 per year.

These new rates apply to all applications made on or after 6 February 2024, even those who are already in the UK and part way along an immigration route or pathway.

Get your applications in before then if you can. And if you really, really can’t afford it, consider applying for a fee waiver. We’ve also got a fee waiver webinar coming up: see below. Be warned that waivers are very hard to get, though.
